I was out on a little ride today after some work and I saw a Garmin jersey headed my way…a minute later I was staring into the face of Tyler Farrar, briefly, before he pedaled by me on the lake. I thought of chasing him but me and my bum knee would have been no match, even if he was on a recovery ride.
Always interesting the little changes one can do to ”perfect” a time trial position. It’s also neat how it really varies on body type and how one functions in their body.
And this is one of the reasons I love Cancellara- yellow jersey smackdown on the sprinters.
You all don’t need a photo of Sagan winning yet another stage in the Tour de California so I’m just posting yesterday’s win to save energy.
David Zabriskie signs my water bottle.
Jens Voigt signs my hand.
Bicycle Racer’s Creed
Adapted by Satu Havakka from The Rifleman’s Creed by General Rupertus.
This is my bicycle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My bicycle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My bicycle, without me, is useless. Without my bicycle, I am useless.
I must ride my bicycle true. I must ride straighter than the competition who are trying to beat me. I must beat them before they beat me. I will.
My bicycle and myself know that what counts in this race is not the cranks we turn, the anaerobic bursts, or the tracks we make with our wheels. We know that it is the finish line that counts. We will endure to finish first.
My bicycle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its speed. I will keep my bicycle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will. I swear this creed.
My bicycle and myself are the explorers of the world. We are the masters of our competition. We are the pursuants of life. So be it, until all victories are found and there is no more race, we will ride together.
Finland, Finland, Finland. It’s a joke that only true Finns like this disgusting flavour called ”Salmiakki” which is like super salty licorice. Here they make an ice cream with salmiakki flavour. Yech.
